Did you know that around 70% of the population have suffered from trauma? Common symptoms include:
Suffering from severe fear, anxiety and panic attacks, or depression.
Anger, obsessions and compulsions, shock and disbelief.
Emotional numbing and detachment. Unable to form close, satisfying relationships.
Experiencing terrifying memories, nightmares, or flashbacks.
Shame and guilt.
Perfectionism, procrastination and jealousy.
But what is trauma?
Trauma is a survival adaptation. It is the dysregulation of the body - "because something happened to you". When a traumatic event occurs, the nervous system gets overwhelmed. A store of emotional energy gets stuck (because of the survival state/stress). The body cannot regulate these emotions, and you create painful narratives due to that dysregulation.
Many people don't know they suffer from emotional trauma and for years will use all these coping mechanisms without even realising it.
What can you do to heal?
What my research has shown is that people suffering from trauma do not need solutions, they need to be heard. This is why I decided to start this journey of helping people heal.
